What FakeNot.com is all about? ---

Many of us love to shop on eBay and other auction sites. It is easy, fun and often more economical than going to a nearby shopping mall. To many people, eBay is a lifestyle. We spend hours looking for deals, then hours or even days bidding. It is like a game. Then we get the "You Won!" email. Doesn't it feel great? Of course! But what if a few days later we do not get what we were expecting in the mail? Well, we can always return the item and complain to the auction site. But what if we receive the item, and we think it is what we expected, but actually it is not? What if the item is FAKE, counterfeit, fraudulent copy of what we expected, imitation of what we thought we bought? Oftentimes it is very difficult to tell the authentic item from a fake one. In many cases, people have no tools to do that.

Well, this is what FakeNot.com is all about. Here we try to help customers like you find the little and big differences between authentic products and counterfeit ones. Weather it is a Rolex watch or a Juicy Couture suit, CHI hair iron or Tiffany jewellery - we will try to help you distinguish fakes from originals. We will try to guide you in the right direction.

It is no news that companies spend billions of dollars trying to create the brands that we trust. When we buy counterfeit products consciously or unconsciously, not only we put the money in the wrong pockets, we also undermine the entire North American system of standards, testing and certification. Proliferation of fake products places us, consumers, at direct risk of exposure to unsafe or deficient products and increase retailers’ risk of legal action and unfavourable publicity, should they unwittingly supply those products. Widespread counterfeiting can also jeopardize public confidence in legitimate products, posing a significant threat to leading national brands and to the profits of the companies behind them.

Our far reaching goal at FakeNot.com is not only to reduce the numbers of counterfeit products, but to create an online environment that makes selling counterfeit products virtually impossible. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!
